In order to maximize the chances of having your request chosen for RhettandLinKalls, please follow these guidelines:
- Don’t ask us to call you. We will only call someone for you.
- These are not prank calls. We are going to say that you asked us to deliver a particular message. That message may be positive, negative, or neutral…but it’s not a prank.
- Don’t ask us to include some kind of inside joke. That won’t be funny to anyone else.
- Don’t ask us to call someone just because they’re a fan or because you think they’d get a kick out of it. We are delivering specific messages.
- The shorter and more to the point your request, the better. We don’t need a million details.
- The more specific and original you can be, the more likely that we’ll choose your request. Unoriginal requests include: telling someone you love them, that you’re proud of them, that you miss them, etc. We get that A LOT and we’d prefer if the request was more specific and original.
- When we find an idea that we like, we’ll message you through one of our personal Facebook accounts. If your privacy settings prevent you from receiving messages from non-friends, we can’t message you. Change those temporarily if you’ve submitted an idea on our wall (see how to do that below).
- By messaging us back once we’ve contacted you, you are agreeing that we are not responsible for whatever might happen as a result of our phone call.
- If you don’t have a Facebook account, you can submit your request by simply commenting on the blog post where we announce another round of RhettandLinKalls. You’ll need to become a Kommunity member, though, so we can message you by looking at your comment.
Here’s how to change your Facebook settings so you can receive messages from non-friends (or just to make sure you’re set up correctly):
- Once you’re logged into Facebook, click on the “Account” tab in the upper right-hand corner
- Scroll down and click on “Privacy Settings”
- At the top, you’ll see “Basic Directory Information”. Click on “View Settings”
- The third option down lets you select who can send you messages. Select “Everyone”
