The NYC Food Cart Song

Brian Layman (The eHermit)\

Today’s episode from the Alka-Seltzer Great American Road Trip features some of the best food we had during the whole trip. It’s quick, it’s cheap, and it’s good…It’s New York City street food. Whether you’re a construction worker or a self-important businessman with a $3000 suit and $500 shoes, you can satisfy your longings for sustenance at a convenient NYC food cart. New Yorkers take their street food seriously, as evidenced by this list of the top 20 food carts in the city. If you watch closely, you can figure out which of the carts in our song made the list.

This song has a different dynamic. We wanted to focus on the vendors, to write a tribute to them. As the lyrics go, “You won’t soon forget what you bit, but will you remember their face?” This song is for the hard-working men and women who stand for hours on the street-corners of the city that never sleeps, serving the citizens with a smile and a dab of mustard. Thank you, street food vendors. Without you, we couldn’t find an affordable meal in New York City. We apologize for not letting our gratitude show every time we hand you our cash. It’s gonna be different from now on.

Have you ever visited any of the carts from the video? If not, which one looks best? Let us know.
